Dungeons & Dragons
Roleplaying games are a great way to express your creativity, learn how to work together with a team of new people, and develop problem-solving skills. I organized a recurring Dungeons & Dragons program for teens at Southeast. I took care of marketing, shopping for supplies, and even picked up some freebies from Firefly Toys & Games and the SCARAB Gaming Convention. I wanted to keep it low budget to show kids and their parents that games like D&D don’t have to be a money pit. All you really need is paper, pencils, and some dice.
Up until now, I have been DMing for them (running the game), but as the program has expanded, I’m in the process of teaching teens how to DM for each other, and now some volunteers are getting involved too!
